SKYVOLTS Receives FAA Approval for High Altitude Wind Power Generation Systems
Guymon, Oklahoma, November 3, 2008 — The Federal Aviation Administration today marked a major milestone in the advancement of high altitude wind power generation systems with their decision that these turbines should be treated as permanent structures under Section 77. SKYVOLTS, Inc., assisted in the negotiation of this decision with the FAA, opening the way for advance approval of two separate 200 MW windfarms using these high altitude wind generators, one in Oregon and the other in Nevada.
SKYVOLTS, using its new proprietary system called SKYSCAT, can forecast the amount of electrical power which can be generated by a wind turbine system, down to an accuracy level of 100 feet square, at any hub height, whether terrain level or at high altitudes, anywhere in the world. SKYSCAT accomplishes this by mining wind data from satellites. With this system, SKYVOLTS can access two years of wind data in a matter of weeks, replacing the traditional meteorological study and significantly reducing the wait time prior to construction of a wind farm.
